My oldest daughter, Harper, turns four today! Time seems to go so fast. Harper is not a kid that is naturally inclined to read books. She much rather prefers interactive and imaginative play. That being said, in our home every night before bed each of our daughters picks a book from their rather expansive bookshelf for us to all read together as a family. So in honor of Harper's fourth birthday I am letting her help me with a blog post, which she is very excited about. I am going to ask her to pick her four favorite books which I will list below along with a brief synopsis and Harper's reasoning as to why they are her favorites.
1. Alexander and the Dragon by Katharine Holabird
Synopsis: Alexander is scared of the dark and shadows. One night he sees a shadow under his bed that looks like a dragon. Is this dragon friend or foe?
Harper's Thoughts: "I like the dragon and Alexander."
2. Sweet Dreams (Peppa Pig Story)
Synopsis: This book is two different bedtime stories that Peppa's parents tell in order to get two little pigs to fall asleep.
Harper's Thoughts: "It has a light." (this is a projecting story book, so as we read it, it projects pictures on the ceiling)
3. Uni the Unicorn by Amy Krouse Rosenthal
Synopsis: Uni the Unicorn believes that little girls are real, but her friends and parents don't.
Harper's Thoughts: "It has so many things, Uni the Unicorn."
4. Chicka Chicka Boom Boom by Bill Martin Jr. and John Archambault
Synopsis: The different letters of the alphabet try to climb a tree.
Harper's Thoughts: "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom will their be enough room?"
Harper had a blast helping me write this list! If you have any recommendations on books for Harper to read, let us know in the comments!
