Obviously it is well known that covid-19 has made a huge impact on our lives. If you find your self feeling anxiety or going stir crazy from being isolated, here are some books we recommend reading to help you "feel good".
1. The Wedding Date by Jasmine Guillory
Genre: Contemporary Romance
The Wedding Date is about two people that get stuck in an elevator, and end up agreeing to go to a wedding together acting as a fake couple. Shannon and I both loved this book.
2. Pumpkinheads by Rainbow Rowell
Genre: Young Adult/Teen Contemporary
This is a short graphic novel if you are having a hard time committing to a book. Pumpkinheads is about two teens that work in a pumpkin patch. It's the last night of the season, and they are on a mission(s). The first mission is to get Josiah to talk to the girl he has been crushing on for the last four years. The second mission is for Deja to try to eat all the food she hasn't had the chance to eat since she's been working. This book was a really cute quick read, and the illustrations are gorgeous!
3. Along for the Ride by Sarah Dessen
Genre: Young Adult/Teen Contemporary
Shannon and I both adore Sarah Dessen! We read everything she writes. Along for the Ride is my favorite book by her. It's about a girl named Auden that has insomnia that gets the chance to spend the summer in her dad's small beach town. She meets Eli, a fellow insomniac, and they begin to explore the town at night. This book is great for when you are feeling lonely!
4. Me Talk Pretty One Day by David Sedaris
Genre: Nonfiction/Essay/ Travel Log
Me Talk Pretty One Day is a collection of essays about David Sedaris moving from New York to Paris. This is a great book to read if you feel like the walls are closing in because it helps open up the world a little bit. Sedaris's sense of humor will also have you laughing out loud, and feeling good!
5. The Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket
Genre: Middle Grade
The Series of Unfortunate Events are thirteen books about three orphans who get placed into to care with a man named Count Olaf. However, he is despicable so the children try to escape. With thirteen books, and a plethora of odd and quirky characters this series is a good pick to get wrapped up in and forget the real world for a little while.
