Reading this month was a breath of fresh air. My reading has really slowed down since July, and it felt so good to get back into it this month! I also loved every single book I read this month. Nothing I read rated below a four, so this month was a total success for me.


The Golden Compass by Philip Pullman

Synopsis: Lyra, an eleven year old girl, has to search for her best friend after he has been kidnapped by "gobblers". On her quest she uncovers terrifying secrets, about the world she lives in and her own family.

The Afterlife of Holly Chase by Cynthia Hand


Rating: 5/5 stars


Synopsis: Holly Chase was a failed "Scrooge." Now after her death she must act as the Ghost of Christmas Past to save other greedy and selfish people.

Darling Rose Gold by Stephanie Wroebel


Rating: 5/5 stars


Synopsis: Five years after Patty Watts goes to prison for poisoning her daughter, Rose Gold, since birth, she is released. Rose Gold allows her mom to live with her. This is either a chance at redemption or for revenge.


To Kill a Kingdom by Alexandra Christo


Rating: 5/5 stars


Synopsis: Lira is a siren known for killing princes. Elian is a Prince known for killing sirens. When Lira's evil mother, The Sea Queen, turns Lira into a human and tells her the only way to redeem herself is kill Prince Elian, Lira must hatch a plan to destroy the person that's been hunting her.


Chlorine Sky by Mahogany L. Browne


Rating: 5/5 stars


Synopsis: A coming of age story written in verse about a girl stepping out of the shadow of her former best friend, and figuring out who she is.


The Last Bear by Hannah Gold


Rating: 4/5 stars


Synopsis: A little girl moves to a remote island with her dad and befriends a polar bear!

After only reading two books a month for the last three months or so, reading 5 full books this month felt amazing. I hope its a good indicator of my year to come.


1. Boyfriend Material by Alexis Hall


Rating: 5/5 stars

Synopsis: Luc O'Donnell is tangentially--and reluctantly--famous. After one compromising photo, Luc's back in the public eye and it could ruin everything.To clean up his image, Luc has to find a nice, normal relationship...and Oliver Blackwood is as nice and normal as they come.


2. Butterflies by Susanne Gervay


Rating: 4/5 stars

Synopsis: Katherine was severely burnt in an accident when she was two years old. Katherine still needs regular skin grafts. this is a moving and well-written tale of emotional and physical damage and Katherine's need to overcome her fears. It is a positive story of individual strength and family love.


3. Escaping from Houdini by Kerri Maniscalco


Rating: 5/5 stars

Synopsis: Audrey Rose Wadsworth and her partner-in-crime-investigation, Thomas Cresswell, are en route to New York. But on the journey privileged young women begin to go missing without explanation, and a series of brutal slayings shocks the entire ship.

It's up to Audrey Rose and Thomas to piece together the gruesome investigation as even more passengers die before reaching their destination.

Rating: 5/5 stars

Synopsis: The true story of an all-American girl and a boy from an impoverished city in Zimbabwe and the letter that changed both of their lives forever.
