5 Years of Marriage

So today, July 6th is my fifth wedding anniversary to my handsome husband. Not many people can say they married the same man twice but I can. Our official marriage was July 6, 2015; however, this was a super small MDJ wedding. We had our big "white" wedding the following year on July 9, 2016. We did this for many reasons: he was in the Marine Corps, we wanted to save up for the big wedding, and we wanted our anniversary date to be July 6. So we got to celebrate twice!

My husband and I both love books and so when planning the big "white" wedding I wanted to incorporate our love of books somehow. We decided to use books as our table markers. We each went about picking out a few of our favorite books. We had eleven tables, so I picked out 6 books and he picked out 5 books. These books ranged from favorite childhood books to favorites as we grew older. His choices were Where the Wild Things Are, Wizard of Earthsea, Sherlock Holmes, The Mystery of Cabin Island, and Where's Waldo?. I choose Purple, Green, and Yellow, One Child, What Teachers Make, The Tale of Despereaux, Fault in Our Stars, and The Longest Ride. Our guests had to check out the seating chart and then find the table with their book in the center.

My husband and I still love books and we find time to spend reading together. Most evenings we spend time sitting in our comfy chairs each reading our individual books. Sometimes we decide to read a book aloud together. We take turns back and forth reading aloud and listening. So far we have read The Giver aloud together and we are very slowly working our way through reading the Harry Potter series aloud together as well. We both will continue to love reading and share our love of reading with our future children. Having gone to school for early education I'm a sucker for children's books and cannot wait for the excuse to buy and read them often.
