4 Summery Books to Read Before Summer is Over

We are more than half way through August, and that means that summer is almost over! Here are five books to help you embrace the last bit of summer!

Love and Gelato by Jenna Evans Welch

Love and Gelato takes place in Italy, where Lina is sent to live with her father after her mother's death. Lina does not want to be in Italy and is trying to hatch a plan to move back to the United States. When she comes across a journal that her mom wrote when she lived in Italy, she begins to read. As she reads her journal she tries to experience the things her mom experienced. As she grows closer to her mom in a way she never thought possible, she may also find love herself.

I read this book in the beginning of the summer and sped through it. I loved the story, the setting, and the characters. I am going to try to read Love and Luck, the author's second book, before the summer is over! Welch's third book Love and Olives releases in November.

Call Me By Your Name by Andre Aciman

Call Me By Your Name also takes place in Italy. However, in this case the story focuses on a teenage boy named Elio. Elio's family hosts a graduate student in their Italian estate every summer, and this is the story of the summer that Oliver lives with them. As the summer goes on the relationship between Elio and Oliver deepens.

This is one of the best books I've read. I am obsessed. For a few nights after I finished this book, I would wake up in the middle of the night and not be able to fall back asleep because I was thinking about Elio and Oliver. It doesn't take much to make me cry, but this book succeeded on that front too! Also this book as a movie adaptation starring Timothee Chalamet, and Armie Hammer.

The Lightning Thief

Most people have heard of The Lightning Thief, and probably read by now as well. Regardless any of the books in the Percy Jackson series are worth a read or reread. In The Lightning Thief, Percy Jackson discovers he's a demigod, and is whisked away to Camp Half-Blood for his protection.

I read all five of these books in a row, and loved them. They show amazing friendships, mixed with Greek mythology and tons of action. If you need something fast paced, and easy to read this is the book for you!

Guilty Wives by James Patterson and David Ellis

I have not read Guilty Wives yet, but I would like to be able to squeeze it in this summer! James Patterson is one of my favorite authors, and his books are like comfort food.

In Guilty Wives, four friends embark on a vacation, no husbands allowed. They are staying in a lavish resort overlooking Monte Carlo. After a weekend of partying, they wake up on a yacht surrounded by police. With no recollection of what happened, and being arrested and accused of a heinous crime, their dream vacation becomes a fight for their freedom.
