Shannon's Goals:
Read 60 books
My goal this past year was to read 50 books and I surpassed that by reading 69 books! This next year, I know my life is going to be busy and changing a lot! I'm expecting my first child and will also most likely be moving due to my husbands new job. So I hope to read 6o books this year, less than what I read this year, but I feel an achievable goal.
Lessen my TBR pile
This year, I really want to focus on reading books that are currently on my "To Be Read" shelf. This shelf is currently overflowing onto other shelves and into piles, I would love to get it back to just one nice organized shelf or maybe even half a shelf. My TBR pile contains borrowed books, so I would also love to finish these and return them to their rightful owners.
Get back to posting on my bookstagram more often
I kind of fell off the "bookstagram" planet around September this year. Life got busy and bookstagram got pushed aside. Starting in the new year I hope to get back to it by posting at least once every two weeks. I want to continue to stay connected to the reading and book loving community but not feel overwhelmed to post every single day.
Sarah's Goals:
Read 80 books
While this was also my goal for the year 2020, I decided to keep my book count the same. I ended up having a lot more time to read this year (as I believe most of us did), and I think this is the only reason I surpassed my original goal by 44 books.
Stop putting so much pressure on my reading life
Joining bookstagram and creating this book blog were definitely highlights of this past year. That being said I found myself sometimes feeling guilty if I was in a reading slump, or enjoying things other than reading. While I love the book community I think joining added a lot of pressure to my personal reading life. This year I am going to embrace reading what I want, when I want. I think this will make the content I create more personal, and easier to engage with, as well as making me happier overall.
Read 50 books that I already own
THIS IS HUGE. With all of the stress this year caused, I found myself book buying a lot. While I love to book shop, this has caused me to neglect all of the stories I already have on my shelf. So I plan to read 50 books from my shelf before I purchase any additional books. With the exception of my book of the month subscription.
Only purchase books from locally owned shops
This is another huge goal. With covid restrictions affecting local business, it is more important than ever to shop local. Local bookstores are the backbone of the reading community, and they need our support urgently. The one exception to this rule is if I have a gift card to another place.
Frequent the library more often
I live within walking distance to the local library. I've been there zero times this year. Does anyone else see what's wrong with those two sentences?
