June Wrap-Up

I didn't finish quite as many books as I hoped this month, but that's okay. I'm excited to mood read next month and see how many books I can complete.


1. In the Afterlight by Alexandra Bracken

Rating: 5/5 stars

Synopsis: Ruby can't look back. Fractured by an unbearable loss, she and the kids who survived the government's attack on Los Angeles travel north to regroup. With them is a prisoner: Clancy Gray, son of the president, and one of the few people Ruby has encountered with abilities like hers. Only Ruby has any power over him, and just one slip could lead to Clancy wreaking havoc on their minds.


2. Tuesdays at the Castle by Jessica Day George

Rating: 5/5 stars

Synopsis: Tuesdays at Castle Glower are Princess Celie's favorite days. That's because on Tuesdays the castle adds a new room, a turret, or sometimes even an entire wing. No one ever knows what the castle will do next. 3. Say You're Sorry by Michael Robotham

Rating: 5/5 stars

Synopsis: When teenagers Piper Hadley and Tash McBain disappear one Sunday morning, the investigation captivates a nation but the girls are never found. Synopsis: In a dystopian world where even individual thought is illegal, Winston has to find his way.


6. Song of the Sparrow by Lisa Ann Sandell

Rating: 4/5 stars

Synopsis: The year is 490 AD. Fiery 16-year-old Elaine of Ascolat, the daughter of one of King Arthur's supporters, lives with her father on Arthur's base camp, the sole girl in a militaristic world of men.


7. Bring Me Back by B.A. Paris

Rating: 5/5 stars

Synopsis: Finn and Layla are young, in love, and on vacation. They’re driving along the highway when Finn decides to stop at a service station to use the restroom. He hops out of the car, locks the doors behind him, and goes inside. When he returns Layla is gone—never to be seen again. That is the story Finn told to the police. But it is not the whole story.


8. Emergency Contact by Mary H.K. Choi

Rating: 4/5 stars

Synopsis: For Penny Lee high school was a total nonevent. When Penny heads to college in Austin, Texas, to learn how to become a writer, it’s seventy-nine miles and a zillion light years away from everything she can’t wait to leave behind. Sam’s stuck. This month I read a lot more ebooks than I was expecting! While I didn't necessarily read many books on my shelf, I am super happy with all the books I was able to complete this month! My month started out really slow, and I was worried I was falling into a reading slump. Fortunately I was able to pull through and complete seventeen books!


1. Take What You Can by Heather Garvin

Rating: 3/ 5 stars

Synopsis: Paige Lawson is ready to spend the summer with her best friends. Then she meets Frederick who may be hiding a dangerous secret. Is she safe?


2. The Hazel Wood by Melissa Albert

Rating: 3/5 stars

Synopsis: Alice and her mother have never stayed in one place for too long. Bad luck seems to follow them. When Alice's grandmother, author of a book of dark fairytales, dies things take a turn for the worst.


3. The Night Country by Melissa Albert

Rating: 3/5 stars

Synopsis: Sequel to The Hazel Wood


4. Crazy House by James Patterson and Gabrielle Charbonnet

Rating:4/5 stars

Synopsis: Becca mysteriously vanishes, and the only person looking for her is her twin sister Cassie. Becca has been taken to Crazy House, a death row type prison. No one has ever escaped, but can Cassie find her sister before it's too late?


5. The Fall of Crazy House by James Patterson and Gabrielle Charbonnet

Rating: 3 or 3.5/ 5 stars

Synopsis: Sequel to Crazy House


6. Love Me Like You Do by Aimee Brown

Rating: 4/5 Stars

Synopsis: When Parker is left at the altar her life is turned upside down. Then as she is fleeing her would be wedding she's in an accident and a handsome stranger takes her to the hospital.


7. 1984 by George Orwell

Rating: 4/5 stars

Synopsis: In a dystopian world where even individual thought is illegal, Winston has to find his way.


8. Wilder Girls by Rory Power

Rating: 4/5 stars

Synopsis: A deadly plague called the tox leaves Raxter island, home of an all girls boarding school in shambles. As the CDC is trying to find a cure, Hetty's best friend Byatt goes missing.


9. The Patient by Jasper DeWitt

Rating: 4/5 stars

Synopsis: Dr. Parker H. starts working in a dreary mental hospital. In this hospital there is a patient that has been deemed untreatable. Dr. H takes it upon himself to finally diagnose and treat the patient. However, every person that has come in contact with the patient has either committed suicide or attempted it.


10. Crystal Shadows, Gripping New Blood by R.J. Parker

Rating: 1/5 stars

Synopsis: When Sarah discovers a dark secret about her family, her and her friends are faced with defeating darkness.


11. Love & Gelato by Jenna Evans Welch

Rating: 5/5 stars

Synopsis: When Lina's mom dies she is sent to Italy to live with the father she never knew about. While in Italy she is given her mom's old journal from her time in Italy. As she gets to experience Italy with newfound appreciation, and through her mom's eyes, she might find love too.


12. The Prince and the Dressmaker

Rating: 5/5 stars

Synopsis: Prince Sebastian's parents are searching for the perfect bride for him. With the help of Sebastian's best friend Frances he is able to explore the streets of Paris as Lady Crystallia. When Frances wants her dressmaking talents known she is risking lettling Sebastian's biggest secret out.


13. They Both Die at the End by Adam Silvera

Rating: 5/5 stars

Synopsis: When Mateo and Rufus are both notified that they will die by the end of the day they go out searching for a friend to live their last day with. With the help of an app they find each other and go on an adventure.


14. Call Me By Your Name by Andre Aciman

Rating: 5/5 stars

Synopsis: Elio's parents host a guest in their villa every summer. This year the guest is Oliver. As the summer progresses Elio and Oliver's friendship does too.


15. Lifeguard by James Patterson and Andrew Gross

Rating: 4/5 stars

Synopsis: Ned is a lifeguard at a luxurious resort in Florida where he meets Tess. Tess is a rich woman staying at the resort, and Ned is falling in love with her. When Ned's cousin sets up a heist that will yield five million dollars for Ned he jumps on the offer. The heist goes wrong. Now Ned is on the run and has to leave Tess behind.


16. The Safe Place by Anna Downes

Rating: 5/5 stars

Synopsis: Emily loses everything her agent, her job, and her apartment. Of course she is desperate, but then the opportunity of a lifetime working for Scott Denny as a house keeper in his summer home comes around. Now surrounded by Scott's family, and enjoying her days at this remote yet idyllic French estate Emily finds hope. However, Scott and his wife Nina have dangerous secrets.


17. Awkward by Gurpreet Kaur

Rating: 3.5/5 stars

Synopsis: Awkward is well, awkward. Each chapter you will read another awkward situation she gets into, and end up laughing out loud!
