Sarah's Review:
Before I read this book I read other reviews, so I went into it expecting a love story with a side of murder mystery. I wasn't disappointed. I think a lot of people went into this book expecting a slasher novel (based on the way it was marketed), and were let down. As it is, I am a sucker for love stories, and the love story is almost always my favorite part of a book. I did enjoy the relationship between Ollie and Makani. The murder aspect was intriguing to me, however, I did feel like the capture of the killer took too long once the identity was known.
Shannon's Review:
Going into this book I was worried it was going to be too much "horror" for me. I'm a big baby when it comes to scary/horror movies, and I can handle a little more in books, but still not a lot. I was pleasantly surprised that this story was a nice mix of scary and romance. From the moment of the first murder, I was trying to get inside the killer's mind and figure out who it was and what their motive was. As the murders continued I switched gears slightly, and really focused on Makani's and Ollie's relationship. I really enjoyed this couple and the dynamic they had together. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to try something a little more on the scary side, but doesn't want to dive all the way in.
