Book Review: The Lost by Natasha Preston

Updated: Feb 27, 2020

Edition: Paperback (304 pages) Genre: Thriller

Synopsis: In a small town, eleven teenagers have gone missing, in less than seven months. The police call them “the runaways” and assume they did just that, however Piper and her best friend Hazel are more skeptical. Determined to spice up their summer, they decide they are going to seek out the truth. Their search does not last long. Their night begins hanging out with some rich college boys and ends with them locked away in a secluded building. What they discover in this building is more than they expect and every room is test.

Shannon's Review: 5/5 stars

This book throws you into the thick of the action quickly, it then grips you and pulls you in. I flew through this book, because I just needed to know what would happen next. The main character, Piper, is very likable and I was rooting for her the whole time. Despite the situation she finds herself in, she is able to remain strong and focused on her main goal, of getting free. Her determination is really what caused me to like the book so much. The ending, well it wasn’t what I expected but I did still enjoy it.

Sarah's Review: 5/5 stars [contains spoilers] For the record, I don't think I will ever rate one of Natasha Preston's books less than five stars. Her books do have similarities in that they are all fast reads with pages that turn themselves, full of twists, have likable characters, a little bit of romance, and a creepy story line. I really loved Piper and her strength. Even though Evan is horrible, he's still likable and this book makes you feel and think.
